About Our Meal Program

Since its inception, our program has offered meal service 5-and 7-days/week including holidays. This is a unique feature of our program made possible by our dedicated volunteers!

We provide daily hot nutritious meals during the noon hour with the choice or 5- or 7- day delivery, with an option for a cold meal supper if refrigeration is available to the client. A single meal costs the organization more than $10. Client contributions are a necessary resource, as are community donations, United Way contributions and federal funding through the Older American’s Act. Those unable to pay for the full meal cost are encouraged to make for a sliding scale contribution. No one is denied service due to inability to pay. Statements are sent with client meals at the first of the month or mailed to a payee. Payments can be made by cash, check or paid online as well. Our billing address is: Beloit Meals On Wheels, Inc., P.O. Box 326, Beloit, WI 53512.

Best Events supplies our meals.  They understand the nutrition needs of our clients…and can meet the dietary requirements set forth by the US government, yet manage to create palate pleasing meals.

Over the years, our capabilities have expanded so we are able to provide renal failure diets to assist our clients on dialysis, in addition to a number of therapeutic diets including:

  • Low salt/ NAS (No Added Salt)
  • Low fat
  • Low cholesterol
  • Diabetic

We also offer a variety of textures, ground and pureed menu items, so those with difficulty chewing and swallowing can receive appropriate nutrition to remain in their homes. Every effort is made to please the palates of our clients by noting specific likes and dislikes.

Meals are packed in dual-ovenable containers that allow meals to be kept at appropriate temperatures, yet not burn our volunteers’ or clients’ hands. Containers also provide a visual display of the food being delivered. Cold components of the meals are packed in brown paper bags.

Some clients opt for the cold supper meal, which is packaged in a white paper bag. Clients requesting the cold supper will receive two paper sacks each day. This will be indicated by the red print for the cold meal indicated on the routing sheets.

Eligibility for Meals On Wheels

Meals on Wheels focuses on caring for individuals whose diminished mobility makes it hard to shop for food, prepare meals or socialize with others. Our program serves those Beloit area seniors, 60 years and older, that are homebound and not driving, with those that are elderly and frail taking priority in our program. Limited funding is also available for adults with disabilities.
